My Approach to Helping
I believe that all the answers to your troubles lie within, and that every person has the potential to change. My role as psychotherapist is to help others uncover their greatest potential and to teach the skills to achieve it. I have been practicing Counseling since 1990, and Yoga and Meditation since 2001. Realizing that there are many solutions to one problem, I refer and collaborate with traditional and complimentary practitioners to broaden healing options.
I utilize Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (MBCBT), Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Internal Family Systems (IFS) as my therapeutic approaches.
More Info About My Practice
I am a Wisconsin Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), and an Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher (E-RYT). I have extensive training in both Western and Eastern healing modalities of treating mental health and nurturing spirituality. I am located in Hudson, Wisconsin.
Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With
I have a long standing history of working with adolescents, blended families, and severe and persistent mental illness (SPMI). However, as I enter the latter stages of my career, I now specialize in adult issues and aging. I am known for working with people who have struggled to change and have had multiple interventions without result. I provide a safe and supportive environment that will allow you to unfold at your pace. By reviewing past interventions and current issues, we will develop holistic and achievable plan for growth.
How My Own Struggles Made Me a Better Therapist
With my own history of depression and anxiety, I offer a humbled approach and 'practice what I preach.' Because of this, I encourage others to grow beyond measure and challenge us to look deeply into what stands in the way of healing. I hope to inspire change through compassion, self-acceptance, and humor.
